PechaKucha lights up New West

September 4th, 2013

“Think of this as a ‘real’ social network. Get out from behind your screen and get to a live event with real people, real communication, real beer and real creative fun,” said PechaKucha hosts Neal and Melinda Michael.

The Salient Group and Trapp + Holbrook were a lead sponsor for PechaKucha Volume 3 which took place at Westminster Pier Park, bringing in 10 presenters from a variety of fields – fashion, social development, television, design, et cetera – to share their passions and interests.

The only catch? Instead of a normal slideshow presentation, all the speakers took on a unique challenge at PechaKucha.

They are only allowed to use 20 images for 20 seconds each. Each presentation will be 6 minutes and 40 seconds long. Fitting, as the term PechaKucha is Japanese for “chit chat”.

Volume 3 brought out 300 people to view listen and view the presentations, which were projected on an inflatable screen.

PechaKucha Volume 4 will take place on Friday, September 20 at River Market. There will be over 100 cities worldwide hosting a PechaKucha event the same day.
