The Flack Block is one of Vancouver’s most important landmark buildings. Originally built ca. 1899 by Thomas Flack, this building was constructed as a 4-storey masonry commercial building as a landmark component of the early retail and commercial fabric of West Hastings Street. It is located at the northeast corner of Cambie and Hastings.

Salient undertook a complete renovation of the building’s structure and systems, as well as the addition of a modern glass and steel 5th floor. The Flack Block redevelopment was facilitated through municipal heritage incentives, as well as a partnership with Parks Canada.

Salient received the 2009 City of Vancouver Heritage Award of Honour as well as the Heritage BC Award of Honour for the redevelopment of the Flack Block.
